Can I replace my old mechanical pool timer with a TightWatt Pool Timer?
Yes! TightWatt pool timers were designed to snap directly into all Intermatic* cases and will install in minutes. If you have a non-Intermatic case, please contact us so that we can make a recommendation which suits your needs.

Can I use a TightWatt Pool Timer to control my lights or sprinklers?
Yes, but it is not recommended because TightWatt pool timers are designed to run a swimming pool. The TightWatt pool timer was designed with the needs of swimming pool owners and professionals in mind.

How do I run my pool filter manually with a TightWatt pool timer?
There are 2 options:
1) To run one FULL manual cycle:
Tap the "On/Off" button once.
2) To specify the duration of a manual cycle:
Press and hold the "On/Off" button. Release when you see the desired time (in hours) on the right-hand side of the display.

Does the TightWatt work with the Florida Power & Light "On Call" program?
Yes, the TightWatt (with battery back-up installed) will continue to maintain time and date even when the power is shut off by your load control transponder. This eliminates the problem of time loss that occurs with a traditional mechanical time clock.

Do I have to remember to turn my pool pump off after running a manual cycle?
No. TightWatt pool timers will shut off automatically when the manual cycle is complete.

How do I turn my pump off?

Press the "On/Off" button any time the pump is running and it will shut off.

Is a TightWatt pool timer compatible with a salt water chlorinator?
Yes! In fact, using a TightWatt pool timer in conjunction with a salt water chlorinator will actually help extend the life of your cathode. Your pool requires less chorination when the water is cold, so TightWatt pool timers work synchronistically with the needs of your salt-water pool.

Can I use a TightWatt pool timer with my 2-speed pump?
No. TightWatt pool timer can only switch one device.

How do TightWatt pool timers save money?
Your pool pump is one of your home's largest consumers of energy (usually second only
to your AC). TightWatt pool timers take advantage of the yearly changes in temperature, and run your pump efficiently year-round (like a digital thermostat does for heating and cooling). This also reduces pool maintenance time and saves wear-and-tear on components.

How do I back-flush with a TightWatt pool timer?
To backflush your filter medium, attach your discharge hose, and then pull your valve into the backflush position. Tap the "On/Off" button on your TightWatt pool timer to begin the backflush. Tap the button again when the water coming out of the discharge hose is clear.

How do TightWatt pool timers self-adjust?
The TightWatt pool timer has an internal calendar which it uses to determine filter run times throughout the year. Just set the "Summer" and "Winter" run times, and the TightWatt pool timer will compute run times for the rest of the year. It’s patent pending run schedule has been designed to match the climate of the Southwestern United States.

Do TightWatt pool timers come with a warranty?

I lost my user's guide. Can I view it online?
Yes. Click here to download the pdf: User's Guide

What is X10 Home Automation Technology?
X10 is a communication system that runs over your home’s AC wiring. The benefit of X10 is that you can add simple communication functions to your house at a very low cost. Switches, lights, appliances, etc. can literally ‘talk’ over your home wiring. TightWatt pool timers (with additional hardware) support X-10 on/off commands. Keep reading to understand how the TightWatt pool timer works with X10.

How does X10 work with TightWatt pool timers?
Use the ‘Set’ feature on your TightWatt timer to set your house and unit codes. An X10 ‘on’ command will cause your pool pump to run for three hours. An X10 ‘off’ command will shut your pool pump off. Simple. Keep reading if you are a geek like us.

Will the TightWatt pool timer allow me to be more of a geek?
Most people get a TightWatt timer because they want to save money, have an energy-efficient home and spend less time working on their pool. Geeks, however, can also use X10 to run their pool and other home gadgets through internet, phone connections, or pretty much anything else. In short, yes.
